FAQ

How long do sessions last?

Individual counselling sessions typically last for 50 minutes. Couples counselling sessions are 60 minutes or 90 minutes by special request. It can be helpful to commit to the same time and day every week, although I am aware other commitments might make this difficult and will try to offer flexibility where possible.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends. I have experience working short term or longer term. I normally recommend around six sessions to begin with but the decision is ultimately yours. It is possible to do very focused work within three to four sessions if that is something you require.

How do I get started?

The best way is to send me an email or fill in the contact form where I aim to respond within 24 hours. Alternatively, you can call me directly, if I am unable to take your call please leave a message on my confidential voicemail service and I will call you back as soon as I can.

I have not had counselling before. What should I expect in the first session?

I am experienced in clinical assessments and offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation prior to your first appointment to make sure that I am able to provide the right service for you. Alternatively, I am often able to refer to other local services if I am not the right therapist for you. You can read more about what to expect in your first counselling session here
